Health Promoting Schools Network (HPSN)

Kaunas Region Network of Health Promoting Schools was established in 2002. Coordinated by Kaunas Region Education Centre, the network aims to develop school health promotion in 39 schools in Kaunas Region: 25 schools of general education and 14 kindergartens.

A health promoting school is one that constantly strengthens its capacity as a healthy setting for living, learning and working. Health Promoting is organized on local (school) and regional levels.

HPSN core areas:

  • Safe and secure environment;
  • Healthy eating;
  • Physical activities;
  • Prevention of harmful habits;
  • Ecological education.

HPSN activity framework:

  • Organizational work of HPSN;
  • Meetings;
  • Educational trips;
  • Dissemination of good working experience at national and international levels;
  • Publications;
  • Preparation of educational material;
  • Seminars, conferences, exhibitions;
  • Research work on health promotion and prevention of harmful habits;
  • Project work.
